Please follow the handling and anti-static precautions as
outlined here.

Try and hold the memory by its edges, not touching the chips or the
contacts - touching the contacts can cause them to corrode and/or tarnish
over time, which will degrade the quality of the connection and stability
of your PC.
It doesn't matter which socket the memory module is fitted in on the
motherboard used here,
but you will have to refer to your motherboard's manual as to
what type memory it requires, the maximum module size (in Megabytes)
it can use and the total amount of memory it can use.
For instance, this motherboard can use SDRAM modules up to 512Mb and a
total of 768Mb. This means it can use a maximum of three 256Mb
modules, or one 512Mb module and one 256Mb module.
The memory module will only fit in one way as there are notches on the base
of the memory module that have corresponding "bumps" in the socket. See the
larger image of the thumbnail on the right by clicking on it - the notches
are ringed in red. These prevent you from pushing the module in if you get
its orientation incorrect.
The memory module shown here is of the SDRAM type, other types of memory
such as EDO, DDR, etc., may have different amounts of notches and in
different positions. Wherever they are, or how many, they serve the same
purpose.
Push down on the memory module (don't force it, and watch for excessive
bending in the motherboard) and at the same time, gently push in on the two
white levers.
When it is fully installed, the two white levers will lock into its
corresponding notch on the side of the memory module - this will hold it in
place.
To remove the memory module, simply push the white levers down and out,
this will unlock and lever it out from underneath.
